Junior Accountant – Company Advisory

Role Summary

The role is as a Junior Accountant in the firm’s Company Advisory (“CA”) department, with an opportunity to work on a portfolio of clients in different industries and locations. It will appeal to an accountant near the start of their career who wishes to expand their knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.

The CA department looks after approximately 500 companies and Limited Liability Partnerships, the majority of which are owner-managed. London is a hotbed for entrepreneurs and new ideas, and the department gets its share of the market, attracting almost 100 new clients in 2016-17.

The role is full time and London based.

In the role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain a full understanding of all issues facing SMEs in terms of VAT, Corporation Tax and financial reporting requirements
  • Develop communication skills, both internally and with decision makers at clients.
  • Build knowledge of tax planning opportunities that exist for SMEs and their owners.
  • Be supported in ACA/ACCA studies
  • Become proficient in leading accounting software packages

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • For clients in the individual’s portfolio:
    • Liaise with Manager and clients to ensure that all services are being provided to the highest standards.
    • Responsibility for day to day requests and queries.
    • Responsibility for the preparation of accounts and corporation tax returns.
    • Liaise with Partners and Senior Manager on salient matters.
    • Liaise with the Private Clients Tax Department to ensure that clients get optimal tax solutions.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • Numerate graduate with at ideally 6-12 months’ experience in a finance/accounting role.  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with business owners.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and exceptional organisational abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage priorities and re-negotiate if necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team on urgent issues, and the ability to provide guidance and assistance in effecting solutions.
  • Good typing skills.
